I know you've been thinking about it constantly for the past few weeks.  After you rush to the store to pick up the DVDs you've been waiting for months to get your hands on, you're going to pop them into your computer and try to figure a way to get them onto your iPod.  After all, who doesn't want to be mobile while watching their new copies of..."The Eye" (starring Jessica Alba) and..."Rambo"?

Lionsgate wants to save you from such confusion, so they're adding a license to their DVDs that allow you to use a code and dump the movie into iTunes.  Assuming your iTunes doesn't get indigestion, you'll be ready to roll with your new flicks.  Great.

Free Apps? Oh. 03/25/2008

New iPod apps?  From Steve Jobs' lips to your ears.  Actually, there are five apps in the offering for the iPod Touch.  If you own one of these bad boys, it's gonna run you another twenty bucks or so to get them all.

The app suite is comprised of Mail, Stocks, Notes, Weather, and Maps.  The cool thing about the Maps app is that it'll let you know where you are (approximately) as long as you're connected via Wi-Fi.  Not as nifty as a GPS locator, but at least you'll know (almost) exactly where you were when you paid twenty dollars for a program that should have come with your iPod Touch, eh?

PodWorks Upgrade 03/20/2008

You want to move files back and forth between you iPod (or iPhone) and your Mac? PodWorks (www.scifihifi.com/podworks) is the app for you. For those who already have it, there's at upgrade to version 2.9.3 available now.

First-time users can purchase a copy of PodWorks for only $8. For those who already have a previous version, that price drops down to free. With improvements in reporting errors and Applescript, it's a deal.

Good news for Apple, iPod owners, and most importantly, those with pacemakers. Last month, an FDA report was made public clearing up the rumors that iPods may interfere with the operation of pacemakers. The FDA conducted a study that found the iPod caused "no interference effects".

This all began when a 17-year old student conducted a study as part of a science project for school. The study concluded that the iPods did cause a problem with the electromagnetic nature of the pacemakers, prompting consumer concern. Although the student's findings were proven incorrect by the FDA, it's good to see a teenager with an interest in science.

Have you ever felt annoyed that when you buy a DVD, you can't actually play it on your iPod unless you do some crazy thing that only a geek would know? Then I know what you're feeling. However, it looks like there is a solution that has been out for awhile by Fox. Now other companies are following suit. One of them is Lionsgate who is releasing "The Eye" with the iTunes feature.

The feature basically lets you throw in your DVD in your computer and then iTunes will automatically detect you are using a special iTunes DVD and let you import it into your collection. After that, you can easily get it on your iPod or any other Apple device and enjoy on the go. This is a great feature and hope all movie companies get into doing this.

According the many internet analysts (bloggers), they are saying that because the Apple Store is down that they are actually updating some products which can only mean there is something exciting coming. Some people are thinking that the Mac Mini will be updated which will be cool because it's been a very long time since that one has been updated.

If you're thinking that the Apple Store down times are intentional to build buzz, then you might have to think again. It was overheard on twitter that a former Apple staffer mentioned that the Apple Store really down require downtime to do any kind of updates. It's quite odd that a multi billion dollar company requires downtime  on their website, but it's Apple, they can do anything.

Designers love the iPhone which you'll start to see many different types of graphical modifications for the iPhone. One famous designer, Dave Shea, decided to give the iPhone buttons a marble stone look. He is behind css Zen Garden which is a famous website showcasing the power of CSS.

Icons are derived from his Chalkwork series of icons. Many of his works are quite expensive, but this one is only FREE. This is great and should be a great one to add to your iPhone. It'll definitely give your iPhone an edgier look. You'll need a hacked iPhone or touch to use the new buttons so do that first.

What if you could make the screen much bigger without actually making it bigger. That's one someone has done when they installed a 35mm slide viewer on top of their Nano. These are usually meant for those small film strips but it seems to fit perfectly with the Nano. Now you can watch full length movies on a much bigger screen.

The movie looks really good and you could even hack some small speakers on there. You'd think there couldn't be much modifications to be done on a Nano, but think again. I wonder what other crazy things people will think of next.
